Norfolk, VA – The City of Norfolk’s Seven Venues (Entertainment Bureau) and ANC Sports Enterprises debuts a new multi-million dollar light emitting diode (LED) videoboard on Thursday, September 18th at Scope Arena. The arena will now feature a new dynamic center-hung scoreboard and multiple video screens throughout the arena bowl for the American Hockey League’s Norfolk Admirals home games and all other live entertainment events. ANC Sports spearheaded the creation of the scoreboard’s design concept, construction and implementation.
“We at Norfolk Scope are excited about the new possibilities this technology offers to us, our fans, our teams, and our advertisers. Working with our partners at ANC Sports and Anthony James Partners, we believe we have significantly enhanced the patron experience at Scope with the installation of this new scoreboard and video system,” says John Rhamstine, director of the City of Norfolk’s Seven Venues. “This new system is the next step in the progression of upgrades we have made to this classic venue which include new sound and lights systems, a rigging grid and concessions amenities.”
"We look forward to bringing world-class entertainment to the Scope Arena through our state-of-the-art technology solutions," said Jerry Cifarelli, president and chief executive officer of ANC Sports Enterprises. "The new displays will provide a changing, dynamic event experience every night to the arena through incredibly clear video and vivid animations."
The new center-hung scoreboard will be highlighted by four 10 mm Mitsubishi Diamond Vision video screens each measuring 13 feet wide by 7.6 feet high. The structure will also feature four full color LED scoring matrix displays that are each 13 feet wide by 3 feet high. Additionally, a 2.5’ high LED ring will sit at the bottom of the scoreboard displaying full motion advertisements, graphics and venue information.
In addition to the new center-hung structure, ANC Sports installed two video screens at either end of the arena. The CBS Outdoor 16mm displays will measure 20.16 feet wide by 12.6 feet high and feature real-time statistics, event animations, venue information and arena advertisements.
Through ANC’s patent pending VisionSOFT operating system, the new signage will deliver uncompressed images throughout the entire 12,600-seat multipurpose arena. Capable of synchronizing a single image on all the screens or featuring independent content on every display, Scope Arena will now offer patrons a unique experience every night.
VisionSOFT will also interface with all the relevant sports information providers to display real-time statistics from all the sports leagues during Norfolk Admiral home games. The Admirals are the NHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning, an ANC Sports client for the past ten years.
