Lightning Recall D Vladimir Mihalik from Admirals; Norfolk Recalls F/D Brent Henley from Mississippi
TAMPA BAY, FL - The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have recalled defenseman Vladimir Mihalik from the Admirals on an emergency basis, Lightning Executive Vice President & General Manager Brian Lawton announced today. In addition, the Admirals have recalled forward/defenseman Brent Henley from the Mississippi Sea Wolves of the ECHL, Admirals General Manager Mike Butters announced today.
Mihalik, 6-foot-7, 222 pounds, has appeared in 29 games with Norfolk this season scoring two goals and six assists with 28 penalty minutes. The native of Presov, Slovakia, made his professional debut last season, recording one goal and 16 points in 68 games with the Admirals. In 97 career AHL games with Norfolk, Mihalik has three goals and 24 points.
Mihalik started the season with the Lightning and played in both games at the Bridgestone NHL Premiere in Prague, Czech Republic. He averaged 12:05 in ice time per game in his NHL regular season debut. He also recorded six blocked shots and five hits. Mihalik also played in four preseason games with Tampa Bay and scored one goal.
Mihalik was drafted by the Lightning in the first round, 30th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Henley, a 6-foot-6, 258-pound defenseman-turned-forward from Coquitlam, British Columbia, appeared in four games for the Sea Wolves, registering one assist and 11 penalty minutes. Henley also had appeared in two games for the now-defunct Augusta Lynx of the ECHL earlier this season and was scoreless with two penalty minutes. In six ECHL games this season, Henley has one assist and 13 penalty minutes.
Henley has appeared in 12 games with the Admirals this season and has registered 80 penalty minutes. He was signed to an American Hockey League Standard Player’s Contract on October 7.
Henley has appeared in 58 career AHL contests between the Admirals, Lowell Lock Monsters, Rochester Americans, Toronto Marlies, Edmonton RoadRunners, and Springfield Falcons. He has scored one goal and added four assists with 225 penalty minutes in those contests.
In his eight-year professional career spanning 350 games between the AHL, ECHL, WCHL, UHL and IHL, Henley has scored ten goals and added 40 assists with 1,672 penalty minutes.
The Admirals will head to Worcester for a Friday tilt against the Sharks on Friday night at 7:05.
The Admirals return to Scope to kick off a nine-game homestand with solid home games from January 7-30. The homestand begins for Norfolk against their East Division Rivals, the Hershey Bears, on January 7 at 7:15 p.m.
