Lightning Return D Kevin Quick, Recall D Ty Wishart
TAMPA BAY, FL – The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have returned defenseman Kevin Quick to the Admirals and have recalled defenseman Ty Wishart from Norfolk on emergency basis, Lightning Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Lawton announced.
Quick, a 6-foot-0, 175-pound defenseman, played in four games with Tampa Bay, averaging 13:22 in ice time with five shots on goal and a plus-1 rating. He made his NHL debut with the Lightning on January 13 in San Jose.
The 20-year-old native of Buffalo, New York, has appeared in 14 games with Norfolk this season, going scoreless with four penalty minutes and a +3 rating. Quick also appeared in 18 games with the Augusta Lynx of the ECHL, scoring two goals and four assists with ten penalty minutes.
The 20-year-old native of Buffalo, New York, made his professional debut with Norfolk last season, registering four assists and six penalty minutes in 18 games. In 32 career AHL games – all with the Admirals – Quick has four assists and ten penalty minutes.
Prior to joining Norfolk last season, Quick had two goals and two assists in 21 games with the University of Michigan Wolverines. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the third round (78th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft out of The Salisbury School in Connecticut.
Wishart, 6-foot-4, 205 pounds, has played in 36 games with the Admirals this season, recording one goal and three points with a plus-2 rating. Wishart scored his first professional goal on December 19 against Albany.
Wishart has played one NHL game – his NHL debut – with the Lightning this season. He logged 7:53 in ice time with one shot on goal and two blocked shots on January 3 versus Carolina. The 20-year-old was acquired by the Lightning from San Jose on July 4, 2008. He was drafted by the Sharks in the first round, 16th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
A native of Comox, British Columbia, Wishart made his professional debut last season with the Worcester Sharks of the AHL, playing in five games. In 41 career AHL games between Norfolk and Worcester, he has one goal and three points.
Wishart played 262 career games in the WHL with Prince George and Moose Jaw, recording 33 goals and 161 points. He also played in 26 career WHL playoff games, recording four goals and 15 points.
The Admirals’ nine-game homestand continues this week with a Wednesday tilt against the Hershey Bears and a Friday matchup with the Lake Erie Monsters. Opening faceoff at Scope for both games will be at 7:15 p.m.
