Admirals Release 2010-11 Regular Season Schedule

NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk Admirals today announced that the team will begin the 2010-11 regular season on Friday, October 9 on the road against the Binghamton Senators. The puck drops on the home portion of the Admirals’ 2010-11 schedule on Friday and Saturday, October 15 and 16, against the Worcester Sharks at Norfolk Scope Arena. A complete regular season schedule can be found by clicking here.

"This has been an exciting summer for the Admirals and Tampa Bay Lightning organizations," said Admirals Vice President Joe Gregory. "The summer began with 14 former Admirals hoisting the Stanley Cup in June. It is clear that the new ownership and management of the Tampa Bay Lightning is committed to bringing the same championship-caliber play to the entire Lightning organization. The Admirals squad has improved tremendously this off-season with new and returning players, a new general manager and a new coaching staff."

"This summer has also been exciting in that we've started a great new relationship with radio station 102.1 The Game, signed on with a new ECHL partner in the Florida Everblades and added a new rival in the East Division with the Charlotte Checkers. Our staff has been hard at work to improve the Admirals experience for every fan. Our first game in Binghamton is just 45 days away and we'll be dropping the puck at Scope again in only 51 days. We are eager to begin the 2010-11 season"

The bulk of the Admirals' home schedule will be played after the turn of the calendar year. Eighteen of the first 25 games of the season will be played on the road. The Admirals will then play 33 of the following 50 games at Norfolk Scope Arena between December 8 and April 2.

Norfolk closes out the home portion of the regular season schedule on Friday and Saturday, April 1 and 2, against the Hershey Bears at Scope. The remainder of the regular season schedule will play out with a five-game road trip, concluding on Sunday, April 10 against the Hartford Wolf Pack.

The longest homestand of the season takes place from February 4 – 25 with an eight-game stretch at Scope. Norfolk’s longest road trip of the season takes place in from November 26 – December 5 with a six-game trip over ten days.

The monthly schedule breaks down as follows (home/road): October (4/5), November (3/10), December (6/5), January (8/7), February (8/3), March (9/5), April (2/5).

The home schedule features 15 Friday games, 14 Saturday games, six Wednesday games, four Tuesday games and one Thursday game. New this season, Admirals Friday home games will start at 7:30 p.m. All other home games will begin at 7:15 p.m.

All 80 Admirals regular season games plus the playoffs will be broadcast live on "The Game" 102.1-FM and 1490-AM. Free streaming audio will be available online at www.1021FMTheGame.com. You may also watch all Admirals games online on a pay-per-view basis through AHL Live at www.ahllive.com.
