Playoff Push Continues With Five-Game Homestand

NORFOLK, VA – With only 14 games remaining in the regular season, the Norfolk Admirals will continue their push towards the Calder Cup Playoffs as they open a five-game homestand against the Albany Devils this weekend at Scope. After winning all three games played last week, the Admirals are now in third place in the AHL's highly competitive East Division.

Twelve different Admirals registered at least one point as the Admirals defeated the Binghamton Senators, 5-1, Wednesday night at Scope. In the third game of the three-game series between the teams Friday night, James Wright netted his first professional hat trick and added an assist as the Admirals routed the Senators, 8-3. Two nights later, Alex Berry and James Wright each scored in regulation and Johan Harju scored in the opening-round of the shootout as the Admirals skated away with the 3-2 victory over the Hershey Bears at Giant Center Sunday evening.

The Admirals will drop the puck on a five-game homestand this weekend as they take on the Albany Devils on Friday and Saturday nights. Friday night is Team Poster Night, courtesy of Supercuts. Friday's game is also Cheesy Noisemaker Night to Benefit Wave City Care and Virginia Beach Public Schools night. On Saturday night, the Admirals and PAPCO will team up for the eleventh annual MDA Jersey Auction Night to benefit the Hampton Roads Muscular Dystrophy Association. Please see below for more details.

EAST DIVISION STANDINGS
The Norfolk Admirals (34-19-8-5, 81 points, 14 games remaining) are in third place in the AHL's East Division. The Wilkes-Barre-Scranton Penguins (46-18-0-1, 93 points, 15 games remaining) are in first place. Norfolk trails the second-place Hershey Bears (41-22-1-5, 88 points, 11 games remaining) by seven points but has three games in hand. Norfolk holds a one-point lead and one game in hand over the fourth-place Charlotte Checkers (36-23-2-6, 80 points, 13 games remaining) and is six points ahead of the fifth-place Binghamton Senators (34-25-3-4, 75 points, 14 games remaining). Wrapping-up the East Division are the Albany Devils (28-34-1-3, 60 points), Syracuse Crunch (24-34-3-4, 55 points) and Adirondack Phantoms (22-33-4-6, 54 points).

The top four spots in the East Division are guaranteed to qualify for the 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs. The crossover rule is in effect where if the fifth place team in the East Division has more points than the fourth place team in the Atlantic Division, that team will cross over into the Atlantic Division Semifinals.
