Admirals Set to Focus Explosive Attack on Defending Champions

NORFOLK, Va. – Owners of one of the most potent offenses in the American Hockey League, the Norfolk Admirals will face off against the defending Calder Cup Champion Binghamton Senators this Friday and Saturday night at Norfolk Scope Arena in the final home games of October.

Last week, the Admirals split a home-and-home set of games against the Hershey Bears. On Friday night at Scope, the Bears scored three power play goals en route to a 7-5 defeat of the Admirals. The following evening at Giant Center in Hershey, Michel Ouellet scored 1:06 into overtime as the Admirals erased a pair of two-goal deficits to defeat the Bears, 6-5.

This week, the puck drops on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday night at 7:15 p.m. against Binghamton. These are the last home games before the Admirals embark on a seven-game, two-week road trip, which begins on Sunday evening in North Carolina against the Charlotte Checkers.

At 3-1-0-0 (6 points), the Admirals are in second place in the American Hockey League's East Division. The Hershey Bears (3-0-1-0) have a one-point edge on Norfolk for first place. The Binghamton Senators (2-2-1-0, 5 points) are in third place. The Syracuse Crunch (2-0-0-0) and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (1-2-1-1) round out the division with four points apiece. The Admirals are currently tied for second place in the Eastern Conference standings with Adirondack, St. John's, Manchester and Springfield. Click here for complete AHL standings.
