This week, the Admirals travel to Albany Wednesday before visiting Syracuse Friday and Connecticut Saturday.
After 39 games, the Admirals (23-13-1-2, 49 points) and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (22-12-1-4, 49 points) are tied for second place in the AHL’s East Division and fourth place in the Eastern Conference. The Hershey Bears (24-8-4-3, 55 points) continue to hold the best record in the entire AHL. - The Admirals reached the halfway point of the 2011-12 season following Friday night's game. Norfolk went 22-13-1-2 through the first 38 games of 2011-12. The Admirals play 76 regular season games this season.
- Norfolk also reached the halfway point of the home schedule following Friday night's game. The Admirals went 10-7-1-1 through the first 19 home games of 2011-12. Norfolk plays 38 home games this season.
- Norfolk has killed 47 of its last 52 (90.4%) opponent power plays over its last 11 games.
- Dustin Tokarski currently ranks third in the AHL with 16 victories, just one victory shy of the league lead.
- Cory Conacher, Tyler Johnson and Trevor Smith have each recorded four game-winning goals this season, one off the league lead.
- The Tampa Bay Lightning recalled Smith earlier today.
- Mark Barberio leads all AHL-defenseman with 35 points (4G, 31A) and has points in four of his last five games (1G, 4A) and seven of his last eight home games (1G, 9A).
Mike Kostka has points in eight of his last ten games (3G, 6A) to double his season's total production.
- Kostka is now tied for 20th in AHL scoring by a defenseman with 18 points (6G, 12A) in 34 games between Norfolk and the San Antonio Rampage. He ranked third in AHL scoring by a defenseman last season.
- Matt Fornataro has points in six of his last 10 games (4G, 2A).
- The Admirals improved to 15-2-1-1 this season when scoring first – including a 7-1-1-1 record at home.
- Norfolk his 9-3-0-2 on Saturdays this season – including a 4-1-0-1 record at Norfolk Scope Arena.
The Admirals are 13-5-1-1 over their last 20 games dating back to November 25th vs. Providence. During that time, the Admirals are among the league leaders in several categories – including third in points earned (28), second in points percentage (.700), second in goals scored per game (3.45), and tied for fifth in fewest goals allowed per game (2.50).
