SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse Crunch (18-15-3-2) took a six-goal lead after two periods and held on to defeat the Norfolk Admirals (24-14-1-2), 6-3, on Friday night at the Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter. The Admirals will conclude their three-game road trip tomorrow evening against the Connecticut Whale.
Norfolk scored three goals in the third period as captain Mike Angelidis scored twice and Richard Panik bested Crunch goaltender Marco Cousineau once. Admirals goaltender Jaroslav Janus stopped 17 of 23 shots through two periods before being replaced by Dustin Tokarski, who stopped all three shots he faced in the third period.
Patrick Maroon recorded a hat trick for Syracuse, Maxime Macenauer scored twice and Dan Sexton rounded out scoring for the Crunch as the home team scored three times each in the first and second periods. Cousineau stopped 30 of 33 shots for the win.
Norfolk was 0-for-5 on the power play while Syracuse was 1-for-6.
