Anaheim Ducks Sign Jordan Hendry to One-Year Contract
ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed defenseman Jordan Hendry to a one-year contract through the 2012-13 NHL season. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.
Hendry, 28 (2/23/84), has appeared in 129 career NHL games with Chicago, earning 4-9=13 points with 40 penalty minutes (PIM). A member of the 2010 Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks, Hendry played 15 games during Chicago’s successful playoff run that Spring, going scoreless with two PIM. He set numerous career highs during the 2009-10 regular season, including goals (2), assists (6), points (8) and plus/minus (+5).
A native of Nokomis, Saskatchewan, Hendry began the 2011-12 season with Houston, Minnesota’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). In 10 games with the Aeros, Hendry scored 0-2=2 points with a +8 rating and 10 PIM. He signed a one-year contract with HC Lugano of the Swiss Elite League in November and went on to appear in 29 games, earning 1-9=10 points with 18 PIM.
Hendry made his professional debut with the Admirals in the 2005-06 season upon completion of his collegiate career with the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The undrafted blueliner signed an Amateur Tryout Contract with Norfolk on March 18, 2006. After posting one goal and five points in 13 regular season games in 2005-06, Hendry signed a two-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks (then the NHL parent club of the Admirals) on July 17, 2006. Hendry was the only Admiral to appear in all 80 regular season games in 2006-07, posting four goals and 16 points with a plus-20 rating on the campaign. In 93 career games with Norfolk, Hendry has scored five goals and 21 points with 97 penalty minutes and a plus-27 rating. He also appeared in nine Calder Cup Playoff games with the Admirals, posting two assists.
In 201 career American Hockey League games between the Admirals, Rockford IceHogs and Houston Aeros, Hendry has scored 11 goals and 39 points with a plus-36 rating and 210 penalty minutes.
