ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have recalled defensemen Sami Vatanen and Jordan Hendry from the Admirals.

Selected in the fourth round (106th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Vatanen was named the Finnish Elite League’s Defenseman of the Year and selected to the league’s postseason All-Star team in 2011-12, earning both honors for the second consecutive season. He appeared in 156 career Finnish Elite League games, collecting 32-71=103 points with a +40 rating and 114 PIM.

Hendry, 29 (2/23/84), has appeared in two games for Anaheim this season, going scoreless on Jan. 19 at Vancouver and Feb. 6 at Colorado. Hendry began his eighth professional season with Norfolk, collecting 2-9=11 points and 61 PIM in 59 games. At the time of his recall, Hendry ranked third among Admirals defensemen in scoring and tied for third in assists. In 260 career AHL games between the Admirals, Rockford IceHogs and Houston Aeros, Hendry has scored 13 goals and 50 points with 271 PIM.

Signed as a free agent on July 1, 2012, Hendry has appeared in 131 career NHL games with Chicago and Anaheim, earning 4-9=13 points with 40 PIM. A member of the 2010 Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks, Hendry played 15 games during Chicago’s successful playoff run that spring, going scoreless with two PIM.
