(Portions of Story from Daily Press)

Well of course #14 on our countdown features #14 Dennis McEwen . The man known as the "Original Admiral" posted a four-goal performance when it mattered the most….the playoffs. McEwen scored the fourth of his four tallies at 1:48 into overtime over the Erie Panthers which tied the series, but gave the Admirals the team's first ever playoff victory.

The Admirals, who took 11 penalties in the first period and fell behind 4-0 26 minutes into the game, ticked off five straight goals before 2,938 stunned fans in the Erie Civic Center.

McEwen scored twice in the second period, sent the game into overtime with a deflected goal at 18:17 of the final period, and scored the winner with a 20-foot wrist shot past goalie Craig Barnett on the Admirals' first shot of overtime.

McEwen finished the regular season with 24 goals. The Admirals eventually lost the series 3-2 to the Panthers.

McEwen played part of seven series with the Admirals from 1989-99, totaling 202 (76g, 126) during his tenure with the blue & gold. He was a member of the 1991 ECHL championship team. He posted a six-assist game on November 22, 1989. He ranks high on many offensive categories on the Admirals all-time list.

Dennis currently works with the Admirals organization as the Corporate Sales Manager.
