ANAHEIM, Calif. – Goaltender Frederik Andersen who was recalled by the Anaheim Ducks from the Norfolk Admirals on Friday, made his NHL debut Sunday night and recorded his first career NHL victory stopping all 24 shots faced to help lead the Ducks to a 6-3 win over the Dallas Stars.

The Ducks trailed the Stars 3-1 at the time Andersen entered the game. In 40 minutes of play, Andersen was perfect in goal stopping all 24 shots faced. In addition, Andersen made a great play with the puck that helped set up Anaheim’s fifth goal of the game. Anaheim exploded for five unanswered goals in the final two periods to help secure the win, and the first of Andersen’s career. Anaheim has now won seven consecutive games which ties a team record.

Andersen, 24 won both of his contests with the Admirals this season, including a 33-save shutout on Oct. 11 vs. Binghamton (5-0 final score). In two preseason contests with Anaheim last month, the 6-4, 230-pound netminder recorded a 2.45 GAA and .895 SV%. He was assigned to Norfolk on Sept. 25.

Selected by Anaheim in the third round (87th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Andersen has gone 26-18-1 in 49 career AHL contests with a 2.14 GAA, .931 SV% and five shutouts. The Herning, Denmark native won six consecutive games from Jan. 25-Mar. 1 for Norfolk in 2012-13, recording a 1.31 GAA and .954 SV% during that span. Andersen ranked sixth in the AHL in GAA (third among rookies) and second in SV% (led all rookies) in 2012-13 with a 24-18-1 record, 2.19 GAA and .929 SV%.

The Admirals open a six-game road slate on Friday at Adirondack. Norfolk returns home for a pair of games against the Syracuse Crunch on November 8 & 9 at Scope.
