Anaheim Reassigns Center Rickard Rakell to Norfolk

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced Thursday evening that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned center Rickard Rakell to the Norfolk Admirals, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Rakell, 20, made 18 appearances with the Ducks in the regular season and skated in three games during the 2014 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. Rakell assisted on four goals for four points in the regular season and had a goal and an assist in Anaheim's opening round playoff series versus the Dallas Stars. He made his NHL debut on November 4 against the New York Rangers and registered his first career point November 8 versus Buffalo. The 6-1, 192-pound center logged an assist in five preseason games for the Ducks. Last season, Rakell went scoreless in four regular season appearances with the Ducks.

Rakell notched 14 goals along with 23 assists for 37 total points in 43 games for the Admirals this season. He finished fifth on the team in points, and tied for third in assists. The Sundbyberg, Sweden native returns just in time for what could be a series-clinching Game 4 of the Admirals' Eastern Conference Quarterfinal versus the Manchester Monarchs in the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs.
