ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced Saturday that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled center Rickard Rakell to the Norfolk Admirals, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Rakell, 20, recorded 14 goals along with 23 assists for 37 total points in 43 games for the Admirals this season. He finished fifth on the team in points, and tied for third in assists. In his lone game with the Admirals in his most recent trip to Norfolk, the Sundbyberg, Sweden native assisted on a Nic Kerdiles goal just three minutes into the Game 4 victory Friday night.
Rakell made 18 appearances with the Ducks in the regular season and skated in three games during the 2014 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. He assisted on four goals for four points in the regular season and scored a goal and an assist in Anaheim's opening round playoff series versus the Dallas Stars. He made his NHL debut on November 4 against the New York Rangers and registered his first career point November 8 versus Buffalo. The 6-1, 192-pound center logged an assist in five preseason games for the Ducks. Last season, Rakell went scoreless in four regular season appearances with the Ducks.
The Admirals begin their second round series against St. John's May 6 at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time in Newfoundland.
