Norfolk Admirals Fan Code of Conduct
NORFOLK ADMIRALS - FAN CODE OF CONDUCT
In the spirit of good sportsmanship, please review the fan code of conduct as provided by the ECHL. These guidelines aim to provide an enjoyable experience for everyone.
1. Abusive/Offensive Language
a. Offensive Language is the offense of using language in a way which could cause offense to a reasonable person in, near, or within hearing or view of a public place.
b. Abusive Language is considered to be any language that is hurtful in nature and intended to cause offense.
c. Arena Security is to speak to any offenders as follows:
i. First Offense – Warned to stop cursing
ii. Second Offense - Warned of ejection
iii. Third Offense - Escorted from the arena
2. Racial Slurs or Threats
a. Racial Slurs: Racial slurs, often called racial epithets, are words or phrases that refer to members of racial and ethnic groups in a derogatory manner.
b. Threats: a statement of an intention to inflict pain, injury, damage, or other hostile action on someone in retribution for something done or not done.
c. Common sense asks if threats are “playful banter” or meaningful – i.e. I’ll meet you in the parking lot.
d. Zero tolerance for racial slurs or threats to other customers, employees and Players. Offenders are to be immediately ejected
e. Those unsure of the designation should escalate issues to their superior (see below)
3. Excessive Banging on the Glass
a. Please do not bang on the glass: Banging on the glass is to be expected, however, excessive banging on the glass in an obnoxious manner is disruptive and annoying to other fans around and there are often microphones for TV feeds on the glass. Banging on the glass creates annoying background noise for TV broadcasts.
i. First Offense – Warned to stop
ii. Second Offense - Warned of ejection
iii. Third Offense - Escorted from the arena
4. Fan Signage
a. All Fan Signage must be reviewed by Uniformed Officers and\or Security and Ticket Takers upon entrance into the facility
b. Signage containing Abusive/Offensive language, and or Racial Slurs or Threats shall be confiscated and disposed of immediately
5. Projectile Objects
a. Any items purposely thrown at an Official, Player, Coach or other fan. Offenders are to be immediately ejected
b. Any items thrown onto the ice surface during gameplay. Offenders are to be immediately ejected
c. Items customarily thrown onto ice surface during stoppages in gameplay (i.e., hats after a hat trick, stuffed animals during Teddy Bear Toss nights, ceremonial items) are permitted at the discretion of Security.
6. Ejections and Escorting from the Arena/Premises
a. Event Security reserves the right to ask any individual to leave if his or her behavior is deemed disruptive.
b. Grounds for dismissal include but are not limited to: intoxication, disruption of a performance, occupying a seat for which you do not possess a ticket, obscene behavior, offensive language or attire, inappropriate public displays of affection, unauthorized vending, peddling promotional items and product sampling.
c. Ushers are never to engage a customer “hands on”
d. Uniformed Officers and\or Security must be involved when escorting a fan from the building
e. On-Ice Officials may request a fan be ejected at their discretion
7. Additional Team and Venue policies
a. Smoking Policy - All SevenVenues properties are entirely smoke-free. This includes electronic cigarettes. There are designated outdoor smoking areas available. Please note, it is illegal to consume cannabis on a SevenVenues property. Under Virginia law, smoking cannabis is permitted in private residences but not in public.
b. Service Animals are allowed on the premises under the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) that comply with additional identification requirements of Virginia Law Service Animals must have an official harness, backpack or vest identifying the animal as a trained service animal.
i. Please note that under Section (VA 51.5-44.1) Any person who knowingly and willfully fits a dog with a harness, collar, vest or sign, or uses an identification card commonly used by a person with a disability, in order to represent that the dog is a service dog or hearing dog to fraudulently gain public access for such dog pursuant to provisions in Section (VA51.5-44) is guilty of a Class 4 misdemeanor. Service Animals are not permitted to occupy seats in any of our facilities.
c. Entering a SevenVenues Facility constitutes consent to metal detector screening, physical and/or visual inspection of person and belongings. Failure to consent or submit to an inspection will result in denial of entry. In order to increase the efficiency of this process, guests should minimize the number of personal items they bring to the venue.
