Norfolk, VA.- The Norfolk Admirals, proud member of the ECHL, announced that forward Thomas Frazee has been recalled by the San Antonio Rampage (AHL) on Tuesday afternoon. The Admirals also announced the signing of defenseman Mitchell Mueller and forward Mitch Vandergunst from the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs.
Frazee, 27, has 20 points (6g, 14a) in 22 games split between Norfolk and Atlanta this season. The Vancouver native was acquired by the Admirals from Atlanta in the five-player trade that sent Brady Vail and Angelo Miceli to Atlanta. In 10 games with Norfolk, Frazee has five points (1g, 4a). A fifth-year pro, appeared in six games with the Rampage last season. Frazee signed an AHL deal with the Rampage on August 8, 2017.
Mueller, 23, joins the Admirals from the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs (SPHL) where he has accumulated nine points (4g, 5a) in 16 games, in addition to 25 penalty minutes. The 6’4” defenseman spent training camp with the Admirals prior to the start of the season. Last season Mueller appeared in 30 SPHL games with Roanoke and Peoria notching seven points (3g, 4a). Prior to turning pro the defenseman spent one season at American International College where he appeared in 19 games.
The forward, Vandergunst, also comes to the Admirals from Roanoke (SPHL) after starting the season in Pensacola. In nine games this season the forward has tallied a pair of assists. Vandergunst, a second-year pro, appeared in 17 games with Knoxville last season netting five points (2g, 3a) in addition to 75 penalty minutes.
