Norfolk, Va. - Head Coach Eric Veilleux and the Norfolk Admirals announce today that the Stockton Heat, AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames (NHL), has reassigned defenseman Gabriel Verpaelst to Norfolk. Verpaelst, 22, appeared in eight games for the Heat, accumulating 7 penalty minutes (PIMs) and a minus-2 rating. In 51 prior games with the Admirals this season, the 6-foot, 194-pound defenseman still remains eighth in scoring for Norfolk, registering 30 points (6g, 24a) and 132 PIMs. The second-year pro has appeared in 117 ECHL games, tallying 40 points (9g, 31a) and currently rests at 19th in the league for top-scoring defensemen. The Sherbrooke, QC native holds the 2015-16 Admirals team record for points in a single game with five (1g, 4a). The Admirals host the Orlando Solar Bears tonight, Saturday, March 26 at 7:15 p.m. on home ice in Scope Arena.
