NORFOLK, VA – The Norfolk Admirals, ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers, are proud to announce the re-signing of forward Steven Whitney for the 2016-17 season. Whitney, the team’s leading scorer in last year’s campaign, tallied 55 points in 66 points. “Steve had a tremendous year last season and we expect him to come in and play a key role for us again,” Admirals head coach Rod Aldoff said. “ has a high skill level and his dedication to the game sets him apart.” Hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, the 25-year-old center began his tenure with the Admirals at the conclusion of the 2012-13 season. After departing for the Florida Everblades in 2014-15, the Boston College product returned to Virginia for the breakout season, one he will look to build off of this fall. Over the span of 162 professional games in the ECHL and American Hockey League, the right-handed shot has accumulated 98 points. The Admirals begin the 2016-17 season on Friday, October 14th against the Kalamazoo Wings at the Norfolk Scope. Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 757-640-1212.
