NORFOLK, VA. - The Norfolk Admirals added two more new skaters on Wednesday, buffing up their blue line with the signing of Paul Cianfrini and acquisition of Dmitrii Sergeev.
Cianfrini, 27, had been playing with DVTK Jegesmedvek in Hungary before opting to come back to the United States. With 270 games of ECHL experience under his belt, the defensemen played for the Wheeling Nailers from 2012-2015 and had a brief stint with both the Trenton Titans and Toledo Walleye prior. Standing at 6'0" - 205 lbs., the Dundas, Ontario born product will wear #4 for the Admirals.
Sergeev, 20, was acquired from the Missouri Mavericks today. The St. Louis Blues signed defenseman is in his first professional hockey campaign and skated in 14 games with the Western Conference squad. Hailing from Chelyabinsk, Russia, Sergeev participated in 138 games with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League since 2013 and dressed in seven games for his native country in the 2016 World Junior Championship. He will wear #2 for Norfolk.
Both are expected to make their Admirals debut during the course of this three game series with South Carolina. The series gets underway tonight with puck drop set for 7:15 PM. Both sides will square off Friday and Saturday as well and tickets are available on Ticketmaster.com and at the Norfolk Scope box office.
