Quick Hits:

Trevor Tallies (Again):

Norfolk forward Trevor Mingoia scored his fifth goal of the season last night. Mingoia leads the ECHL in goals and has scored in each of the Admirals first four games. Dating back to last season Mingoia has scored in six consecutive games. The current four-game streak to begin the season is the longest of the forward’s career. In his rookie season with Atlanta Mingoia had two three-game scoring streaks.

Miceli Making Plays:

By picking up an assist on Mingoia’s third period goal, Angelo Miceli is now tied for the ECHL lead in assists. The forward, who recently recorded his 100th career point, has five assists through his first three games of the season. Line mate Trevor Mingoia has been involved in four of the five goals that Miceli has assisted on.

Special Teams:

Norfolk has scored on the man advantage in three of four games to start the season. Converting on five of their 17 opportunities (29.4%) the Admirals have the sixth ranked power play in the ECHL. Last season the Admirals power play only tallied 38 times all season (16.1%). Four different players have scored on the man-advantage, with Trevor Mingoia being the only player to score more than once.

Lyytinen the Lamp:

Defenseman Joonas Lyytinen became the last player to score for the Admirals when the recently assigned blue liner tallied in the third period. Lyytinen, assigned on Oct. 19, made his North American debut on Friday night and capitalized.

The defenseman joins Grant Besse, TJ Melancon, and Jordan Abt as Admirals to have scored their first ECHL goals this season.
