NORFOLK, VA. – The Norfolk Admirals, ECHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators, acquired forwards Thomas Frazee, Chase Witala and Patrick D’Amico from Atlanta in exchange for Angelo Miceli and Brady Vail.
Frazee, 27, had 15 points (5g, 10a) prior to the trade. The Gladiators alternate captain was leading the team in assists and was tied with Phil Lane for the team lead in points. The forward was named the Sher-Wood Hockey/ECHL Player of the Week for Oct. 23-29. A native of North Vancouver, BC, Frazee has tallied 146 points (59g, 87a) in 223 career ECHL games. Frazee signed an AHL contract with San Antonio on Aug. 8, 2017.
Witala, 22, joins the Admirals having recorded ten points (3g, 7a) in 11 games with the Gladiators. The second-year pro spent last season with the Orlando Solar Bears, notching 19 points (7g, 12a) in 46 games. Before joining the professional ranks the Prince George, BC native spent five seasons with the Prince George Cougars (WHL). In 302 games the forward racked up 239 points (120g, 119a). He was named an assistant captain in his final two seasons with the Cougars.
D’Amico, 23, has three points (2g, 1a) in 10 games for the Gladiators, including the game-winning goal on Oct. 26 vs. Jacksonville. Last season D’Amico skated in 38 games with the Indy Fuel tallying 16 points. In 115 ECHL games over three years the forward has recorded 43 points (23g, 20a).
In exchange for Frazee, Witala, and D’Amico the Admirals sent Angelo Miceli and Brady Vail to Atlanta. Miceli appeared in 12 games for the Admirals this season picking up 13 points (4g, 9a) while Vail has tallied 10 points (4g, 6a) in eight games for the Admirals.
In a corresponding roster move the Admirals have placed forward Alex Pompeo and defenseman Jordan Abt on reserve.
