Admirals Acquire Young, Sign Helgesen

Norfolk, VA.- The Norfolk Admirals, ECHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators, made a pair of moves on Thursday acquiring defenseman Michael Young from Rapid City, and signing forward Kenton Helgesen.

Norfolk acquired defenseman Michael Young from Rapid City in exchange for forward Erik Bradford. Young, a 2017 ECHL All-Star, has appeared in 143 career ECHL games recording 56 points (17g, 39a) and a plus five rating. The Calgary, AB native played four years at University of Nebraska-Omaha before turning pro.

In another move Norfolk signed forward Kenton Helgesen to a contract on Thursday. Helgesen, 23, joins the Admirals after starting the season with the Orlando Solar Bears. Last season the Alberta native appeared in 50 games with the Utah Grizzlies and Indy Fuel. A 6’3”, 200 lb defenseman spent his junior career in the WHL with the Calgary Hitmen where he was named team captain in his final year season. Helgesen was second among Hitmen defensemen in scoring with 45 points in the 2014-15 season.
