NORFOLK, VA. – The Norfolk Admirals, ECHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators, signed forward Alex Pompeo and defenseman Don Olivieri the team announced on Saturday afternoon.
Pompeo, 24, rejoins the Admirals after beginning the season with the team. Most recently he played three games with the Pensacola Flyers (SPHL). The forward appeared in 11 games with Norfolk recording one goal and two assists. In his first full professional season, Pompeo, played in 39 games with the Admirals last year recording ten points (2g, 8a) to go along with 41 penalty minutes.
Olivieri, in his second full professional season, has appeared in 12 games with the Evansville Thunderbolts and the Mississippi RiverKings this season. The defenseman has tallied seven points (4g, 3a) in addition to a plus-two rating. A native of Philadelphia, PA, Olivieri played 11 games in the ECHL last season with the Missouri Mavericks adding three points, all assists. Prior to turning pro Olivieri appeared in 82 games in four seasons at the NCAA D-III level with Utica College and Nazareth College.
In corresponding roster moves the Admirals placed defenseman Daniel Johnston on injured reserve. Forward Chase Witala has also left the team to pursue other opportunities.
