NORFOLK, VA – The Norfolk Admirals, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers, have signed defensemen Aaron Harstad, Head Coach Rod Aldoff announced on Thursday. The 24 year-old, 6’2” – 200 lbs. defensemen comes to Norfolk after spending the 2015-16 campaign with the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League, and the Tulsa Oilers. While in Tulsa he recorded eight points in 14 games. “Aaron is an elite defenseman and a great character person who will contribute to our team greatly this season,” Aldoff stated. “He’s played a lot of great hockey and is the type of blue-liner that’s going to execute in all areas of the rink.” The former seventh round selection of the Winnipeg Jets is a left-handed shot and hails from Stevens Points, Wisconsin. A United States Hockey League champion and All-Star went on to spend four successful seasons at Colorado College before turning pro at the conclusion of the 2014-15 season. “I’m really looking forward to seeing him an Admirals jersey this season. His combination of size and skill are truly going to be a welcomed asset to this team and this town,” Aldoff concluded with. The Admirals begin the 2016-17 season on Friday, October 14 against the Kalamazoo Wings at the Norfolk Scope. Ticket plans are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 757-640-1212.
