DULUTH, GA. - The Bakersfield Condors, American Hockey League affiliate of the Norfolk Admirals, announced the recall of defensemen Mikael Tam and Frankie Simonelli on Sunday.
Tam, who was sent to Norfolk on December 13, recorded 14 points in 12 games with the club. On December 17th, the Quebec native recorded just the fourth hat trick by a defenseman in Admirals history in a 5-2 win over South Carolina. With the call up Tam now becomes the sixth Admiral promoted this season, joining Jaedon Descheneau, Alex Ranger, Eetu Laurikainen, Steven Summerhays and Frankie Simonelli in earning AHL time.
Simonelli will rejoin the Condors for the second time this season. After starting the year with Norfolk, the third-year pro was called up on November 1, 2016. During his first stint with Bakersfield, Simonelli played five games and recorded one point. In the ten games he's played since rejoining the Admirals on December 15, Simonelli pitched in four goals and five assists.
Without the two, the Admirals will still take on the Atlanta Gladiators Monday afternoon at 12:30. The game will be available on 102.1 FM The Tide to listen, on ECHL.TV to watch, as well as at Buffalo Wild Wings at the oceanfront, the official watching location of all Admirals road games.
Following the contest the team will return to Norfolk to play six home games between Friday, January 20 and February 1. Tickets for all games are on sale now on Ticketmaster.com and at the Norfolk Scope Arena box office. For more information on the team, visit norfolkadmirals.com.
