Norfolk, VA. – Defenseman TJ Melancon has joined the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL on a PTO the Norfolk Admirals and Syracuse Crunch announced on Wednesday morning.
Melancon, in his first professional season, leads all Admirals blueliners and sits fourth on the team with 40 points (14g, 26a) in 54 games this season. The Oshawa, ONT native ranks second among ECHL defensemen in goals (14), trailing only Utah’s Taylor Richart. Prior to turning pro Melancon spent three seasons with Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of the QMJHL recording 99 points (29g, 70a) in 200 games, while keeping a plus/minus rating of plus 13.
This is Melancon’s second call-up of the season. The defenseman signed a PTO with the Belleville Senators on Dec. 18, and made his debut on Dec. 20 against Rochester. Melancon has played in two AHL games this season recording one shot on goal and a plus one rating.
The Admirals are back at home on for three-straight games as they host South Division foes Greenville on March 16, and 17 and Jacksonville on Sunday March 18.
